Highlanders Split Last Tri-Match of Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Langhorne, PA- In the Cairn Highlanders last two home matches of the season the Highlanders won one of two contests, defeating Eastern Mennonite University and later falling to the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology.

and Jeff Bishop, the action began fast and furious on the court.  Cairn gave Stevens their best shot, mounting a six point run to take an 11-8 lead.  The Ducks battled back though, eventually overtaking the Highlanders and winning the first set 25-20.  The Highlanders were blitzed by Stevens in the second set, failing to put up a substantial challenge and losing 25-12.  Cairn again put forth a renewed effort in the third set but was unable to win, as Stevens finished the match by winning 25-20.  Statistically, Ryan Garven led the Highlanders with six kills and seven digs, while Matthew Rhodes joined Garven at the top of the digs ranking.  Additionally, Bishop had four kills and four blocks for the Highlanders.  

Despite the loss against Stevens, the day would still be considered a success for Cairn as the Highlanders achieved their first conference win of the season.  Cairn will travel to Thiel College on Friday and Juniata College on Saturday of next weekend to finish their season.
