In the first set Cairn was able to hang with Stevenson in the early goings, but four straight points from the Mustangs saw the Highlanders fall down 11-6.  The set went downhill the rest of the way and the Highlanders lost the first set, 25-15.  With renewed effort in the second set, Cairn was able to battle the Mustangs to a standstill as the two teams were even at eighteen points after a Ryan Garven kill.  Another four point run for Stevenson gave the Mustangs an insurmountable lead and Cairn dropped the second set 25-21.  The Highlanders took an early two point lead in third set, and held this lead for the majority of the set.  Stevenson mounted a mini-run to come back and take the lead, but a kill from outside hitter Josiah Buss tied the affair at fifteen points.  The remainder of the set was tightly contested but Cairn was unable to achieve a victory and extend the match, losing the third set 25-22.
