Cairn vs Daniel Webster College
The Highlanders took a commanding lead in the first and second sets against the Eagles of Daniel Webster College with dominating victories 25-7 and 25-16. The Eagles fought back in the next set to win, 29-27 before Cairn would snatch the 3-1 win, 27-25. Cairn finished with a respectable .306 hitting percentage in the contest tallying 47 kills on 108 attempts.
Ryan Garven and
Josiah Buss led the team with 15 kills each.
Matthew Rhodes contributed 12 digs and
Jon Wilson had a match high of 38 assists.
Cairn vs Southern Vermont College
Cairn won the first set, 25-18 never trailing the Mountaineers. Southern Vermont came out with a win, 25-20 for the second set bringing the teams to a tie. The Highlanders rallied back with a win in the third set, 25-23. The fourth set proved to be very entertaining as it took extra points to decide a winner. The Highlanders pulled ahead and snatched the 3-1 win with a score of 28-26.
Ryan Garven tallied 17 kills, 8 digs for the match and
Josiah Buss followed closely with 16 kills and a team-high 10 digs.
Randall Colson contributed 14 kills and
Dan Winters led the team with 8 block assists.
Jon Wilson assisted a match high once again 43 out of the 47 kills.
The Highlanders will continue their travels to Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday night and then will make their way to Virginia over the weekend for their second and third conference matches against Marymount University and Eastern Mennonite University.
