Box Score Langhorne, PA- In a difficult match tonight against the fourteenth ranked team in the nation, the Cairn Highlanders men's volleyball team fell to the Mustangs of Stevenson University in straight sets.

Box Score

The Cairn Highlanders were upset-minded tonight as they hosted the #14 ranked Stevenson Mustangs.  The first set saw the Highlanders go down early, 20-14, but stage a comeback due to formidable kills by outside hitters Ryan Garven and Josiah Buss.  The Highlanders brought things as close as 21-18, and later 24-21, until a service error ended things for the Highlanders and they fell in the first set 25-21.  The second set was not as favorable to the Highlanders as they were unable to fight back from an early deficit and were defeated 25-14.  Cairn finally put things together in the third set as they were able to jump out to an early lead over the Mustangs due to three straight blocks from the tandem of Buss and middle hitter Jeff Bishop.  The Mustangs battled back and the teams traded points over the duration of the set, before a Ryan Garven kill gave the Highlanders a chance to win at 25-24.  After a series of errors by both teams, two Stevenson kills spelled the end of the match for the Highlanders as they lost 28-26.

The noteworthy performers for the Highlanders on the night were:

Ryan Garven (10 kills, 3 digs)
Josiah Buss (8 kills, 7 digs)
Matt Rhodes (9 digs)

Cairn will travel to Vermont this weekend to play a tri-match against Daniel Webster College and Southern Vermont College.
