Cairn Sweeps Past Ramapo in Home-Opener

Langhorne, PA - The men's volleyball were triumphant in their 2013 home-opener against Ramapo College on Tuesday night.

Senior duo Noah Prickett and Josh Tuttle proved an effective attacking tandem as they powered the Highlanders to a 3-0 win over their non-conference rivals. Both players finished with 12 kills on the night. Prickett also had a team second-best 7 digs. Jon Wilson had a game-high 8 digs and 34 assists for the Highlanders. Cairn used strong team play on defense as five different players recorded 2 block assists, with Ethan Mawhinney and Josh Tuttle leading the way with 3 blocks each.

For the Roadrunners, Brian Colabella finished with a game-high 16 kills, accounting for more than half of Ramapo's kills.

The Highlanders had 8 fewer attacks than their opponents but commited fewer attack errors (20 to 13) and fewer service errors (14 to 10). On the defensive end, Ramapo came up with the advantage in blocks, 14 to 11, but the Highlanders made 29 digs compared to Ramapo's 22.

Cairn took the opening two sets in similar fashion, 25-22, 25-22. But in the third set, the magic really started to fly as they hit a team attacking percentage of .542, and closing things out with commanding 25-13 third set win.

The win improves Cairn to 2-3 on the season, while Ramapo slips to 0-2.

This Saturday, the Highlanders will travel to Maryland to take on conference rivals Stevenson University in a non-conference match-up. The match starts at 2pm.
