Crimson Eagles Fall to Stevenson; Snap 7-Game Win Streak

Box Score

Stevenson, MD
- Five different Crimson Eagles recorded at least 5 kills but PBU came up short against Stevenson University in a crucial conference match.

Stephen Hirsch (Iseling, NJ / Homeschool) led all Crimson Eagles with 9 kills and was only topped by Stevenson's Austin Jacoby with 10 kiills.

As with most Continental Volleyball Conference matches, there wasn't much separating the two teams but in a repeat of the meeting earlier in the season, the Mustangs committed far fewer errors than the Crimson Eagles. Attack-wise, both squads were on par with each other with 37 and 38 kills respectively. Service aces were 5 to 6 in favor of Stevenson. PBU, however, committed 18 attack errors to the Mustangs 12 and 10 service errors to Stevenson's 8. Those numbers might not seem that different, but in close conference matches they mean the difference between a win and a loss.

Despite losing to Stevenson for the second time this season by a score of 0-3, there was an improvement on the part of the Crimson Eagles. You could see the progress the team has made under Head Coach Ben Fuller from game 1 to this match. Back on March 7th, PBU committed 26 attacking errors against the Mustangs. This time, only 18. With a team short on experience coming into the season and without any seniors, there was always going to be a learning curve with this squad.

The loss does do damage to PBU's playoff hopes but doesn't count them out. PBU will play their final three conference matches this weekend at a tri-match hosted by division leaders Juniata.
