Box Score
Langhorne, PA - Philadelphia Biblical University's men's volleyball team had their home opener tonight against Baruch College.
The crowd of 150 strong was on hand, with the student-section making their presence known with their white shirts and constant noise, to watch the Crimson Eagles play their first match of the season at home after starting the season with 6 straight road games.
In a very close match, PBU dropped a tough one 1-3.
The Crimson Eagles started off well taking the first set. They were certainly made to earn it though. Down 19-22, PBU rallied back with a 7-2 run to take the opening act 26-24. However, you can only come from behind so many times. The 2nd set saw neither team able to break away but Baruch was able to hold on at the end to even things up at 1 a piece, with a 23-25 win.
The third stanza saw Baruch jump out to an early lead and looked all over the Crimson Eagles, leading halfway through the set 13-9 and then 16-10. PBU would close the gap, but it was too little, too late as Baruch took the 3rd set 25-19.
PBU looked sure to even things up and force a 5th set when they jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the 4th set. But give Baruch credit, they didn't let the match slip away and slowly chipped away at the PBU lead, eventually knotting the score up at 17-17. They would then go on a 6-2 run to create a 23-19 lead, a score similar to the first set which saw PBU comeback for the win. This time Baruch held on for the set and the overall win.
