PBU Takes on High Flying Carthage

Rochester, NY - Philadelphia Biblical University's Men's Volleyball Team took on the high-flying Red Men of Carthage College, who are coming off an upset of #1 Nazareth College.

Still trying to find the right chemistry, PBU's Men committed far too many errors to stay with a team playing as good as the Red Men.  Throughout the three sets, the Crimson Eagles had just as many attack errors as they did kills.  Despite being more competitive in the final set, the Crimson Eagles were swept 3-0, dropping the first two sets by the same score 25-14.  Carthage took the final set 25-20 to complete the sweep.

PBU's Ethan Mawhinney (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) continues to be a surprise offensive threat with six kills.  Mawhinney was only outdone by teammate Stephen Hirsch (Iselin, NJ / Home School) who finished with seven kills. Jon Wilson (Allentown, PA / Parkland) had 21 assists.

The Red Men's Randy Hansen exploded for 13 kills to lead all attackers.  Connor Wexter finished with 32 assists.

Following round-robin play, the Crimson Eagles participated in a consolation match against Elmira College. Although coming off a strong performance in their final set against Carthage, PBU was unable to carry their momentum into their final match of the weekend. All three sets were hotly contested, 25-22, 25-18, 29-27 but Elmira came out as the victors 3-0.

This Tuesday, January 31st at 7:00pm, PBU will host it's first home game of the 2012 season against Baruch College.
