NEWARK, NJ - The Crimson Eagles were upended on the road Saturday morning, falling in 3-1 fashion to host Rutgers-Newark.
The Raiders received a team effort during the upset shocker as three players logged double-digit kills for Rutgers.
The host group defeated PBU by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-14.
Despite a .385 hitting clip during the second frame, the Crimson Eagles were limited to their second-worst slugging clip of the season, knocking down just .097 of their smashes. Rutgers, conversely, pounded out a .327 attack percentage for the match.
Senior outside hitter Justin Brubaker knocked down 16 kills to go with five digs in the losing effort and fourth-year setter Drew Dillson added 26 assists and four digs.
The Crimson Eagles will look to bounce back on Tuesday during a match with New Jersey City University on the road. Game time is 7:00 pm.
