Men's Soccer Complete NCCAA East Region Sweep....Again

Boxscore

PHOENIXVILLE, PA
- Philadelphia Biblical University's Men's Soccer swept the NCCAA East Region regular season for the 2nd year running to ensure home field advantage through the East Region playoffs, defeating Valley Forge Christian College 2-1.

PBU had already defeated Lancaster Bible and Baptist Bible earlier in the season by the scores of 3-2 and 4-1. The Crimson Eagles had already secured the #1 seed but still wanted to take care of business against a Valley Forge team that gave them fits last season during the regular season.

On a small and bumpy surface that played into the hands of the Patriots, PBU were given a boost when sophomore Jeremy McAlack (Newtown, PA / Council Rock North) slotted home his 3rd goal of the season, moving him into 2nd place on the team in goals and giving PBU a 1-0 lead.

The Crimson Eagles continued to control play and moved the ball fairly well, considering the pitch conditions, but couldn't find another break through in the first half.

Valley Forge was handed a life-line when the referee awarded a penalty kick in the 37th minute, which Juan Delcid put home to knot the score at 1 all.

PBU almost seemed to go to sleep just before halftime and were nearly made to pay again for not closing down their markers when Delcid found space to dribble to his favored right and knocked a shot off the woodwork.

9 minutes into the second half PBU would restore their lead when freshman Daniel Morrison (Fayetteville, NC / Village Christian), making his first career start also notched his first career goal. Morrison headed home a rebound just outside the six.

PBU outshot Valley Forge 21-9 and had 8 corners to VFCC's 2.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday, October 27 in the NCCAA East Region Semi-Final. This time the match will be held at PBU.

Before then, PBU will face off in their final regular season match against Cabrini College, in a crucial Colonial States Athletic Conference showdown that has playoff implications on the line.
