PBU Takes Down Baruch

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - The men's volleyball team used a .316 hitting percentage to help the group pull out a 3-0 sweep over 15th-ranked Baruch College late Thursday night, downing the Bearcats by scores of 30-28, 26-24, 25-21.

Playing in their home opener of the 2011 season, the Crimson Eagles continued their recent trend of dominance within the confines of the Mason Activity Center, collecting their 13th straight triumph in Langhorne - a mark that dates back to February of 2009.

PBU extended their impressive streak behind an efficient offensive assault that saw the group churn out their best attack clip of the young season. Justin Brubaker led the charge by reaching 20 kills for the third time this year and the 49th time of his prestigious four-year career.

Going 7-6 against ranked opposition a season ago, the Crimson Eagles took down their first top-15 opponent of the current campaign Thursday evening as Baruch College - a team that was tabbed as high as fourth nationally a year ago - was given the seventh place nod in the 2011 preseason polls.

The Bearcats were hindered by 19 attack blunders for the evening while compiling a sub-par 53 sideout percentage throughout the final two frames.

Brubaker tallied his first double-double of the season, ending the night with a team high 10 digs, while Noah Prickett and Josh Tuttle added six spikes apiece on the offensive end. Senior Setter Drew Dillion manufactured 39 helpers in the win to go with two aces.

The Crimson Eagles move to 3-1 on the year following the win while Baruch drops to 1-4.

The volleyball squad will return to action on Saturday during a trimatch in New York. PBU will face Elmira College at 1:00 pm before taking on third-ranked Nazareth College at 3:00 pm.
