LANGHORNE, PA - The PBU women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday, dropping their overall record to 1-6 on the season.
Once again, as has been the case in many games this season, the Crimson Eagles found themselves trailing very early on as the Chargers' Whitney Heise scored at the 4:25 mark to put LBC up 1-0.
It did not take long this time for PBU to answer as Kathleen Meacham scored a skillful unassisted goal in the 12th minute to even the score. Meacham leads the team with four goals this season.
A late 1st half goal by LBC would put the Chargers up 2-1 at the half, but the Crimson Eagles continued to work hard for the equalizer; however, in the 72nd minute, LBC's Danielle Musselman took the momentum right back as her goal made the score 3-1.
"In the 2nd half, we looked likely to tie the score again when (Musselman) hit a wonderful strike from well outside the penalty area," said head coach Dewey Landon. "After that, we came close a few more times, but we couldn't find the net."
The Chargers added another goal in 90th minute for the final tally.
LBC controlled the ball for much of the game as they outshot the Crimson Eagles 15-6. Kristen Lyszczasz made 8 saves in goal for PBU.
Injuries have been an issue for the Crimson Eagles all season as a number of starters have missed significant time. It appears as though the team is finally getting healthy.
"I am confident that we will get better results as more of our injured players return to fitness," said Landon.
PBU will be back home on Thursday as they host Bryn Mawr College at 4:00 p.m.
