Game two would prove slightly more challenging as play would remain locked at 10-apiece through the first five minutes. PBU would use a 4-0 spurt to take a slight edge, but the Spartans battled back, generating an 18-17 lead moments later sparked by five D'Youville slams. However, the Crimson Eagles showed some resiliency, closing out the set on an 8-4 run to grasp a 30-26 victory during set two.
The visitors managed to compete during the beginning part of rally number three, hanging on despite trailing 12-10 early in the stanza. But a quick 6-0 burst from the host squad would provide some separation for the Crimson Eagles and would prove costly as the group would ultimately push their advantage to 10 by the time all was said and done, winning 30-20.
Facing the number one blocker in the nation in D'Youville's Brett Peters, the eighth-ranked Crimson Eagles managed to turn the tables, controlling the net defensively from start to finish.
