LANGHORNE, PA - For four Crimson Eagle fourth-year vets, Wednesday's 3-1 win over Ramapo College couldn't have been much sweeter.
For starters, the triumph helped maintain PBU's flawless record within the confines of the Mason Activity Center, moving the group to 7-0 on the season. Additionally, the win signals the group's fourth victory over a nationally ranked thus far.
But perhaps more importantly, Wednesday's result gives the Crimson Eagle seniors and crew much needed momentum heading into the NECVA Western Divisional playoffs this weekend, where the top-seeded red and white will look to keep their unblemished home record intact.
On Wednesday, the Crimson Eagles snatched the 3-1 win (20-30, 30-23, 30-27, 30-20) over their counterpart despite some opening set slip-ups.
The Roadrunners took advantage of eight PBU hitting errors while attacking at a .324 clip for the game, cruising throughout the 10 point win during the first rally.
PBU responded by upping the ante offensively as the host group would pound out 19 kills in the second set alone en route to a convincing game two win.
The Crimson Eagles utilized 18 block assists on the night, including 11 in the final two games to help limit Ramapo's success offensively down the stretch.
Senior outside hitter Leo Dueck finished his regular season career in Langhorne by tying a season-high mark of 23 kills while providing 14 digs and four block assists. Justin Brubaker added 19 kills and 22 digs, and senior middle hitter Cory Ermold chipped in with six kills and a game high five block assists.
