FULLERTON, CA – For the second time in as many days, Hope International University managed to upend a quickly falling Crimson Eagle squad.
Despite playing a rigorous schedule over the past week, the flurry of losses quickly stacking up is something the men’s volleyball team isn’t used to.
PBU came out on the wrong side of things once again Friday evening, this time falling to the Royals in three straight sets to signal the group’s fourth consecutive defeat. After grinding out a 3-2 dead-even victory a night ago, the Royal’s most recent tilt didn’t prove to be so difficult for the host group as Hope International waltzed 30-18, 30-23, 30-21.
The Crimson Eagles were suppressed into a sub-par .041 hitting percentage for the match and were battered by a 7-0 deficit in service aces. Additionally, the Royals collected a significant advantage in the block department as the host group turned away PBU 12.5 times at the net during their ninth win of the year.
Josh Tuttle drilled a team high 10 kills in the loss while Noah Prickett chipped in with five. Josh Hawn provided nine digs to lead all Crimson Eagle players defensively.
The volleyball team will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon during an enormous match with the second-ranked team in NCAA III. PBU will go up UC-Santa Cruz at 4:00 pm before taking on California Baptist University late Saturday night at 10:00 pm.
