STEVENSON, MD - When it doubt, ride on the coattails of your All-American.
Justin Brubaker, PBU's two-time AVCA All-American, helped spurn the Crimson Eagles past Stevenson University Monday night as the visitors pulled out a 3-0 triumph. Game scores were 30-16, 30-19, 35-33.
Brubaker battered the Mustangs all night long as the third-year outside hitter served up 25 kills while providing 14 stops defensively. In no-doubt his most dominating performance of the season, Brubaker nearly matched Stevenson's collective mark of 30 spikes as a team while pounding at a .488 clip for the match.
With an efficient group effort that saw the visitors commit just 11 total errors throughout the opening two sets, the Crimson Eagles limited the Mustangs to a bland hitting mark of .000 for the match, forcing 30 blunders from the host group.
Although both squad's produced just one double-digit kill performer, Brubaker's showing proved to be more than enough to boost the Crimson Eagles past their NECVA Western Division rival.
Drew Dillon added 39 assists and five digs for the visitors while Noah Prickett chipped in with eight kills and five digs. Leo Dueck carded six kills and seven digs for PBU.
The win moves the volleyball squad's record to 12-3 on the season with a 4-0 tally in conference play. After beginning the season 7-0, Monday's defeat keeps Stevenson on a four game skid as the Mustangs drop to 7-4 on the year.
PBU will return to the court this Saturday when the group heads to New York for a quad match. The team will open up play on the weekend against fourth ranked Baruch College at 11:00 am.
