NEW YORK, NY - Following a near two week hiatus from match action, the Crimson Eagles finally returned to the court on Tuesday for a date with Hunter College.
Any questions regarding PBU's extended time off and the effect it might have were quickly answered as the Crimson Eagles plowed past the Hawks, generating their sixth straight sweep in the process. Game scores finished 30-24, 30-21, 30-28 in favor of the visitors.
PBU stifled Hunter into a .167 hitting percentage for the game while battering the Hawks with seven service aces. The visitors posted successful attacks during .267 of their attempts, a mark that signals the ninth time this year the volleyball team has hit .200-plus during a match.
The Crimson Eagles were paced by Justin Brubaker's 18 kills and six digs while Leo Dueck added 12 spikes, seven digs, and four aces. Third-year setter Drew Dillon added 37 assists during the win and Noah Prickett chipped in with an eight kill, five dig effort.
The Crimson Eagles - currently ranked sixth nationally in the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll - move to 9-1 on the season with the win while the Hawks slip to 8-6.
PBU will gear up for the Vassar College Invitational this weekend, going up against the host on Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm during a match that will feature two top-10 teams.
