PBU Unable to Fend Off Pacers

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA – It was just another day at the office for visiting Marywood University.

The Pacers – last year’s CSAC champ and losers of just two conference games combined over the course of the past two seasons – were back to old form during the team’s opening CSAC matchup of the 2009 campaign.

Marywood stormed to a 7-0 win in Langhorne at the expense of the Crimson Eagles on Tuesday in a game that simultaneously marked PBU’s first conference outing as well.

Boasting perhaps the top offense in the CSAC a year ago, the Pacers racked up 48 shots for the contest while putting 28 of those blasts on goal. Both numbers amount to the greatest number PBU has allowed to-date this season.

Marywood would notch three goals before the 10 minute mark of the opening period and would tack on a fourth before intermission to go up 4-0. Six players would end up scoring for the visitors in what equates to their biggest win of the season.

Sarah Towne, stepping in for injured PBU keeper Kristen Lyszczasz, tallied 18 saves in the loss.

The Crimson Eagles drop to 1-5 overall with the loss while Marywood improves to 3-2 on the year.

The soccer team will shift focus to NCCAA East Regional action on Thursday when the group heads to Lancaster Bible College to do battle with the Chargers. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
