Arcadia Pushes Past PBU

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- The opening 23 minutes of Wednesday's game against against a highly regarded Arcadia University squad provided a sense of encouragement and optimism for a Crimson Eagle crew that was coming off their worst loss in five years.

But once the Knights finally hit paydirt midway through the first half, the scoring floodgates broke wide open for the visitors.

The Knights - undefeated thus far and for good reason - couldn't figure out how to combat PBU's defensive scheme early in the game. The Crimson Eagles did a more than apt job of fending off Arcadia's unrelenting frontline pressure, and even produced several opportunities on the offensive end early on in Wednesday's rain soaked affair.

But PBU's safe was cracked at the 22:59 mark when Arcadia's Brittany Drosdak collected and finished a cross in the middle of the box to break the 0-0 deadlock.

Any thoughts of a comeback would quickly be erased as Acadia would go on to net three more scores before the halftime buzzer and would swell their edge to 5-0 by the time all was said and done. Boasting the 30th ranked defense in the nation, the Knights would allow the Crimson Eagles just five looks at the goal on day while Arcadia would end up rifling 39 blasts - their second greatest mark of the season.

Junior midfielder Stephanie Edson pumped in two goals and added an assist in Arcadia's fifth win of the season as four different Knights took part in the scoring barrage. PBU keeper Kristen Lyszczasz compiled a 13 saves for the day, marking her second best output of the year.

Arcadia improves to 5-0-2 with this win while the Crimson Eagles fall to 1-5 on the season.

With Wednesday's game serving as a final tune-up before conference play kicks off, the Crimson Eagles will take a six day break before returning to the field next Tuesday for a meeting with Marywood University. Game time against the Pacers is slated for 4:00 pm.
