Cambridge, MA - The men's volleyball team entered Friday night's match against Newbury College with their highest national ranking ever - tabbed seventh overall in Division III - but somehow slipped through the cracks when seedings were announced for the NECVA Tournament, garnering the tenth seed for the conference postseason.

The Crimson Eagles pulled off the so-called "upset" over seventh-seeded Newbury (currently ranked 15th nationally) Friday evening, rolling to a 30-27, 28-30, 30-16, 30-20 triumph over the Nighthawks.
Making just their fourth ever appearance in the playoff field of 16, the Crimson Eagles scorched Newbury for a .318 hitting percentage and utilized 12 block assists to run away with the 3-1 victory. PBU hit at a clip of .500 in set number three and pounded out a .444 mark in the fourth and final game.
Justin Brubaker just missed the 30 kill plateau, registering 28 spikes, 12 stops defensively, and two aces. Ben Fuller chipped in with 13 kills and 11 digs and Leo Dueck added 11 and 14, respectively. Drew Dillon tallied 53 assists and nine digs, and Cory Ermold contributed eight kills, nine digs, and four block assists.
The Crimson Eagles will look to keep their season alive tomorrow morning durnig a date with Nazareth College at 11:00 am. The Golden Flyers have proven to be a handful for the Crimson Eagles this year as Nazareth has dished PBU two losses on the season. The victor of tomorrow's match will get a chance to compete in the tournament semi-finals tomorrow night at 4:00 pm.
