PBU Drops Carthrage but Falls to Nazareth

Playing three nationally ranked squads over a two day period, senior Leandro Dueck helped PBU come out successful in their opening match.
KENOSHA, WI - Playing three nationally ranked squads in the span of just two days, the men's volleyball squad went .500 on opening night.

The ninth-ranked Crimson Eagles waltzed past fifteenth-ranked Carthage College in three sets early Friday afternoon, pulling out their fourth win this season over a nationally ranked foe by scores of 32-30, 30-11, 30-26.

Junior Leo Dueck tallied 16 kills, seven digs, and two solo blocks while sophomore Justin Brubaker added a game high 22 kills. Second-year setter Drew Dillon managed 46 assists and sophomore Jon Rose chipped in with 15 digs.

But PBU's eight match winning streak was quickly snapped later in the evening at the hands of fifth-ranked Nazareth College as the group fell in four sets 30-18, 30-28, 23-30, 30-28.

Dillon had 50 assists and Dueck added 20 kills, 13 digs, and three block assists. Brubaker charted 22 kills, 14 digs, and to block assists while Ben Fuller and Cory Ermold each ended the match with seven digs.

The Crimson Eagles will return to action tomorrow taking on the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 11:00 am and later playing against their third ranked team of the tourney, #4 UC Santa Cruz, at 1:00 pm.
