Crimson Eagles Fall in Home Opener

PBU's defense wasn't quite able to fend off Franklin as the Grizzles notched back-to-back goals to come away with a 2-1 win in Langhorne.

LANGHORNE, PA
- It rained in Langhorne Tuesday evening, albeit in more ways than one.

After going up 1-0 late in the first half, the Crimson Eagles surrendered consecutive goals to Franklin College in a disheartening 2-1 loss. Clay Roberts' coaching debut was quickly spoiled when defensive breakdowns led to both of the Grizzles' two scores.

PBU struck first when senior forward Jeremy Dunham lofted a beautiful arching shot over the outstreched arms of Franklin keeper Matt Foreman off a 35-yard free kick. But just 6:30 later Franklin erased the Crimson Eagle advantage when Grizzly freshman forward Sinjin LaBone slipped the ball past PBU keeper Andy Ecker to notch things at one-apiece.

Tied 1-1 with 32 minutes left to play, Franklin's Grant Krevda put in what ended up being the game winning goal. The Crimson Eagles made a strong surge in the waining minutes but to no avail as the Grizzlies' walked away with a one goal victory, marking the first regular season home loss for PBU in nearly a year and a half.

Coach Robert's squad held a slim margin in total shots for the game, 15-12. Sophomore keeper Andy Ecker finished with five saves.

The Crimson Eagles will return to the field next Wednesday when they take on Rutgers-Camden University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm under the lights.
