Langhorne, PA - Highlander Women's Soccer (3-1, 0-0 United East) scored five unanswered
goals after starting down 1-0 to defeat John Jay College.
The Bloodhounds struck first, scoring in the fifth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Over the
course of the next 30 minutes, Cairn (3-1, 0-0 United East) and John Jay (0-3, 0-0 CUNYAC) traded shots, with one Highlander attempt on
frame in that stretch from junior
Juliana Condurso (Brick, NJ / Calvary Academy). Senior
goalkeeper
Rhian Erspamer (Valparaiso, IN / Victory Christian Academy) kept the Bloodhounds
from extending the lead, with four saves (16', 22', 32', 35') in the first half. Sophomore Ella
Quince gave the Highlanders control heading into the half with back to back goals (35', 37'); the
first, assisted by senior midfielder
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Atlantic Christian),
and the latter assisted by freshman
Paityn Smith (Lancaster, PA / Penn Manor). For the third
consecutive game, Cairn held the lead at the break, leading John Jay 2-1.
Five minutes into the second period,
Juliana Condurso pushed the Highlander lead to 3-1 off the
assist from
Ella Quince. After two more shots by the Highlanders fell short, senior midfielder
Gianna Manning (Newport News, VA / Virginia Commonwealth) assisted
Ella Quince for her
third goal of the match (66'), extending the lead to 4-1. Junior
Juliana Condurso added an assist
to her stat sheet as freshman
Paityn Smith scored the game's final goal (69') off the assist from
Condurso.
The Highlanders recorded four saves to the Bloodhounds' three, and Cairn once again outshot
their opponent, this time by a 20-11 (8-5) margin. Cairn seeks to extend their winning streak to
four as they travel to the Bronx for a 4pm match with Lehman College (1-1, 0-0 CUNYAC) this
Thursday, September 17.
