Penn State Altoona rattled off 4 straight points to craft a lead. The Highlanders were able to come back and tie the score at 10 behind 2 kills by junior outside hitter
Sam Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea International Christian School Uijeongbu). Cairn continued going back and forth with Penn State Altoona until another kill by Poirier gave the Highlanders a 22-20 lead. Penn State Altoona responded with a 4 point run to grab control of the set and ultimately won 25-23.
The second set featured more back and forth play reaching 12-12 Cairn claimed 7 of the next 9 points, once again fueled by mutiple Poirier kills. The Highlanders held on to this lead, reaching a 24-21 advantage and putting the set away with yet another kill by Poirier.
The third set saw Cairn jump out to an early 5-2 lead over Penn State Altoona. But The Nittany Lions rallied back and took an 8-7 lead, which grew to an 18-14 lead. Penn State Altoona held on to that 4 point lead until the end claiming the third set 25-21.
In the fourth set Penn State Altoona took an early 8-2 and Cairn was never ever to make that difference up. 2 late kills by freshman opposite
Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea / Ukarumpa International School) still brought the Highlanders up short and Penn State Altoona won 25-15, and claimed the match 3-1.
