Langhorne, PA – #3 Seed Cairn moves on to the semi-final.
The Highlanders were firing on all cylinders to start their quarter-final game against Penn State Abington (6-20 / 6-7 UNITED EAST), jumping out to a quick 19-2 lead behind 5 made 3-pointers. Penn State Abington was able to shrink the deficit and get the score to 21-19. Cairn (20-6 / 11-2 UNITED EAST) went on another run to extend their lead to 35-22 including a pair of triples by graduate guard
Corey Baldwin (Henderson, NC / Averett). Baldwin sunk another 2 3-pointers to late in the first half to send the Highlanders to the break leading 47-32.
Baldwin started the second half with yet another triple before fellow graduate guard
Jaylon Simpson (Atlanta, GA / Belmont Abbey) took on the offensive burden for Cairn, connecting on 3 triples in quick succession. Baldwin sunk his 8th 3-pointer of the contest setting the United East Tournament record for single game 3-pointers. Simpson and graduate guard
Ron Ayers (Prince George's County, MD / Stevenson University) each tacked on another 3 to put the game comfortably out of reach. The Highlanders connected on another pair of triples late in the game to cross the century mark and put the finishing touches on a 105-73 victory.
Cairn will return to action for the semi-final round by going on the road to play Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday February 24th at 7 PM.
