Grantham, PA - Cairn
falls to 0-2 after loss to Grove City.
Cairn (0-2 / 0-0 UNITED EAST) dropped the second half of their tri-match to Grove City (1-1 / 0-0 PAC). In the first set the Highlanders found themselves trading points with the Wolverines. The Highlanders tied the score at 22 after a kill by Junior outside hitter Sam Poirer (Nogyang, South Korea International Christian School Uijeongbu) assisted by senior setter
Josh Adler (Levittown, PA / Neshaminy High School) and an attacking error by Grove City, but failed to get the job done dropping the set 25-23.
The second set was more back and forth scoring. Freshman opposite
Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea Ukarumpa International School) collected two kills late in the set both off assists from Adler, but the Highlanders once again came up short and lost the second set 25-21.
The third and deciding set was more close play, including a 5 point run for the Highlanders which included 2 kills by junior outside hitter
Jesse Stuart (Chattanooga, TN / Chiang Rai International Christian School). Unfortunately, the Highlanders came up short for the third time in a row dropping the set 25-21.
Cairn will return to action on Wednesday January 14th when they play host to Widener in their home opener.
