MSOC: Highlanders Notch First Win in Three Goal Shutout

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – Mens Soccer went on the road verses the Centenary Cyclones on Wednesday afternoon, walking away with their first win of the season in a three goal shut out victory.

After a scoreless first half, freshman forward Zane Wheeler (Addison, NY / Addison Central) got the scoring started, finding the net in the 45th minute while junior forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) followed up a few minutes later in the 62nd to give Cairn (1-3-2) the lead. After holding Centenary (2-4) to a single shot thus far in the half, Miller converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to add to the lead. The Cyclones would manage one last open look at goal, saved by sophomore goalkeeper Evan Aubry (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill West) with three minutes to go.

Miller gets his second and third goals of the season while Wheeler recorded his first collegiate goal. Aubrey saved both shots on goal, marking a shutout in his first collegiate start.

The Highlanders head back on the road this Saturday as the face FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ at 1 p.m.
