MSOC: Second-Half Efforts Fall Short as Highlanders Overcome by FDU

Box Score MADISON, NJ-- Men's Soccer traveled to FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon to face off in a close battle against the Devils, ultimately falling 2-1.

The Devils started off strong, putting alot of pressure on the Highlanders with 14 shots to 3 in the first half. FDU-Florham (4-1-1) went into the half with a 2-0 lead after scoring two goals in the first fifteen minutes of the match. Cairn (1-4-2) attempted to battle back in the second half, this time outshooting FDU 14-12. Junior forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) got on the board, scoring a header off of sophomore midfielder Emanuel Lazor's (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) free kick in the 88th minute. Senior defender Jonathan Akers (Bel Air, MD / C. Milton Wright) would get one last chance in the 89th minute to tie things up, but was unable to convert.

Miller records his fourth goal of the season while Lazor notched his first assist of the year.

Cairn heads back home after two games on the road to host Neumann University on September 24th at 7pm.
