LAX: Cione Records Career High Saves as Highlanders Fall to St. Mary's

LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Lacrosse took on the reigning United East Champions in St. Mary's College of Maryland on Tuesday, breaking up the shutout, 24-1.

St. Mary's (7-4 / 2-0 UNITED EAST) opened with a nine-goal first quarter, adding six more before halftime for a 15-0 lead at the break. The Seahawks would add four more before junior faceoff/midfielder Adain Holliday (New York, NY / Urban Assembly Maker) broke up the shutout with just under three minutes to play in the third. St. Mary's scored five unanswered to close the game in the fourth quarter as Cairn fell 24-1.

Holliday had the only offense of the day for Cairn (0-8 / 0-2 UNITED EAST) with an unassisted goal as senior goalkeeper Nico Cione (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) recorded a career-high 35 saves in the loss, moving to 8th on the NCAA Division III active career leaders list for saves.

Cairn will head to Rosemont next week before closing out conference play at home against Penn College.
