LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Baseball was bested by Centenary, 21-6, at home on Wednesday.
 
The Cyclones spun up an eleven-run first inning to put the game out of reach early on seven hits and five free passes. Cairn (21-13 / 9-4 UNITED EAST) was able to score three in the bottom half with juniors 
Ben Gagnon (Bethlehem, PA / Northampton CC) and 
Noah Rush (Perkasie, PA / Lehigh Carbon CC) doubling to score all three runs.
 
Centenary (16-16-1 / 6-3 ATLANTIC EAST) managed two more in the second, holding the Highlanders scoreless until the fourth where Rush scored as sophomore catcher 
Jay Sariano (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) singled up the middle and freshman shortstop 
JC Alley (Townsend, DE / Odessa) picked up an RBI putting the ball in play to the right side, the score now 14-5. The Cyclones responded with six runs in the fifth on only three hits as Cairn scratched across another run in the bottom half. Centenary scored one more in the sixth as that would be all for the contest, ending after seven innings, 21-6.
 
Rush had two hits on the afternoon with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Freshman relievers 
Josh Smeltzer, Jr. (Reading, PA / Muhlenberg HS) and 
Casey Fletcher (Stafford, VA / North Stafford) each pitched scoreless frames in relief.
 
Cairn will host Penn St. Abington at Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
