DOYLESTOWN, PA – Cairn Lacrosse took on the Aggies of Delaware Valley University on Saturday, dropping the matchup 17-5.
Junior attackman
Cole Heffler (Eldersburg, MD / Central Maryland Christian) scored out of the gate, unassisted, to get Cairn (0-2 / UNITED EAST) ahead 1-0. The Aggies answered right back only seconds later to tie the game. Heffler hit the back of the net again for his second of the game. With fifty seconds left in the period, DelVal evened the score before senior attackman Jacob Lingeman (Goshen, NY / Goshen) took the lead back, assisted by Heffler. With a mere seven seconds left in the quarter, DelVal scored, ending the frame at 3-3.
It was all DelVal through the end of the third period as the Aggies scored 10-unanswered goals until Lingerman scored at the end of the period, assisted by sophomore midfielder
Luke Fowler (Landenberg, PA / Wilmington Christian). Senior attackman
Jason Briant (Lake Hiawatha, NJ / Morris Catholic) got on the board in the fourth, assisted by Lingerman as the Highlanders fell 17-5.
Heffler and Lingerman each had two goals and an assist for three points. Briant had the other goal. Senior goalkeeper
Nico Cione (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) saved twenty two shots.
The Highlanders host St. Joseph's – Long Island for their home opener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
