BALTIMORE MD— Highlanders traveled down to Notre Dame of Maryland and came back with a 3-1 loss.
The first minutes of the game were busy as Notre Dame (2-6-3, 2-2-1 United East) and Cairn (3-6-3, 2-1-1 United East) exchanged shots repeatedly for ten minutes until the Gators took the upper hand in the 14th minute by breaking the deadlock and making it 1-0. Cairn tried hard to tie it up with 6 more shots in the first half, but were unable to convert. The half ended with the Gators having the 1-0 advantage.
Action was early in the second half as the Gators scored in the 55th minute with their first shot of the half. Cairn pushed hard and got a goal back through freshman midfielder
Fah Diomande (Ermont, France /Pocono Mountain West) in the 56th minute. They carried the momentum with them to get off 7 more shots before the Gators got another shot. Both teams' efforts fell short as the score stayed 2-1 in favor of Notre Dame. Cairn just would not give up, getting off 5 more shots before the Gators got their next shot. Notre Dame extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 78th minute. The game ended with the Gators getting the win, with a final score of 3-1.
Diomande netted his first goal of his colligate career.
Cairn will head back home to host Penn St. Harrisburg on Wednesday at 5pm.
