LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Men's Basketball hosted Lancaster Bible College in United East Conference play on Saturday as the Highlanders were unable to overcome the Chargers' offensive prowess, resulting in a 94-71 loss.
Lancaster Bible (9-5 / 4-1 UNITED EAST ) had the fight eight points of the match, as the Highlanders found themselves trailing early and having to push the pace to get back in the fight. Senior guard
Ashton West (Newport Beach, CA / Clarks Summit University) started with two layups as graduate forward
Josiah Hardy (Ashburn, VA / Hampden-Sydney) got rolling with his own layup to try stopping the bleeding. Senior guard
Jonathan Desir (Feasterville, PA / Neshaminy) made a three with fifth year guard
Isaiah Coleman (Fontana, CA / Clark Summit University) and senior guard
Derrick Dolan (Berlin, NJ / Conwell-Egan) adding a pair of threes apiece to keep the lead at eight. Dolan would add a mid-range bucket with two scores to follow from Hardy as the Highlanders trailed 48-37.
Cairn (7-6 / 4-1 UNITED EAST) aimed to close the gap as the second half began as Hardy and West combined for eight points in the opening minutes, narrowing the lead to five. The Chargers swung the momentum right back on the ensuing possession, completing a four-point-play and fastbreak layup starting a run of eleven-straight points. Graduate guard
Jadon Cepeda (West New York, NJ / William Paterson) added a bucket from close range but Lancaster Bible pushed ahead to a twenty-point lead, eventually ranging as far as 88-56 as the Chargers maintained their offensive efficiency. Despite a decent shooting night, Cairn struggled to contain Lancaster Bible's scoring, ultimately concluding the game with a 94-71 defeat.
Hardy shot 50% after his perfect performance four nights ago, leading the team with 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists. West, Dolan, and freshman guard
Andrew DaCosta (Bordentown, NJ / Bordentown) each had ten points, a career-high for Dolan and DaCosta as they both shot 2-2 from deep. Coleman added eight points with a pair of threes as well.
Cairn drops their first game in conference play as they will look to rebound on Saturday hosting Gallaudet at 3:30 p.m.
