ST. DAVIDS, PA – Cairn Men's Soccer made the short trip down to the Main Line to match up with Eastern University, forcing a 1-1 draw as the Highlanders came back in the second half.
Eastern (3-3-2) scored first on the afternoon, going ahead 1-0 in the 22
nd minute. The Highlanders would manage to outshoot Eastern 7-6 in the first half but have nothing to show as the Eagles took their lead to the second half.
In the second, freshman midfielder
Emanuel Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) would find himself with the ball just past midfield, placing a chip shot in front of the goal for sophomore
Brock Burres (Wanaque, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) to head past the keeper, tying the match in the 68
th minute. Cairn (2-2-4) would allow only a single shot for the remainder of the match, holding on for their third-straight draw, 1-1.
Burres and Lazor each had career firsts with their goal and assist, respectively. Cairn outshot Eastern 19-9 as the defense did their job for most of the contest, allowing only two shots on goal.
The Highlanders prepare for Homecoming on Saturday where they will host the Gators of Notre Dame (MD) at 3:30 p.m. to open conference play.
