MSOC: Defense Holds Off Centenary in 0-0 Draw

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Highlanders hosted the Cyclones of Centenary University for a men's soccer matchup on Wednesday night, battling to a 0-0 draw in ninety minutes.

Cairn (2-2-2) took the first shot of the match from sophomore defender Toby Smith (Attleboro, MA / Homeschool), just high enough to be saved. The Highlanders would attempt nine shots in the half, holding the advantage over Centenary (3-3-1) who only tallied three including their only shot on goal of the night.

In the second half, the Highlanders tried to throw shots from every angle at Centenary, firing off fourteen shots in the frame. Cairn would get more than a few open looks, taking five corner kicks in a matter of seven minutes. Freshman midfielder Emanuel Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) had the last shot for the Highlanders with two minutes to play but it was saved.

Sophomore forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) paced the shooting with seven shots, two on goal. Senior goalkeeper Chris Eelman (North Haledon, NJ / Hawthorne Christian Academy) collected his second-straight shutout with credit to the Highlander defense holding Centenary to five shots and a single shot on goal in 90 minutes of work.

Cairn will host FDU-Florham on Saturday evening before heading to Eastern on Tuesday in their final non-conference tune-up ahead of opening United East Conference play on Homecoming, September 28.
