LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn University Men's Soccer team unveiled the Cairn Men's Soccer 1980's All-Decade Team this past summer, including two members of the Cairn Athletics Hall of Honor.
Raymond McKoy, an incredibly skilled midfielder, who was one of the decades premier passers. An All-American who had the ability to play simple and the vision and creativity to thread the needle and play a pass unseen to most, McKoy was brilliant
Christian Oporanize was an explosive player, who was strong on the ball, and known for his outstanding passing ability. He was a 2x All-American and his ability to play anywhere up top or in the midfield helped lead the program to several national championships.
Philip Jackson, a Cairn University Athletic Hall of Honor inductee ('04), was a 3x All-American and was one of the best defenders to ever put on a Cairn jersey. His dominance on the defensive end never overshadowed his passing ability which initiated plenty of goals
Mike Boyd was a dominate defender who had a massive presence on the field. He was an All-American and his play during the 1988 season helped lead Cairn to one of its most dominate national tournament runs in program history.
Scott McElhenny was one of the best goalkeepers in program history. A 2x All-American who led the program to its first two National Championships, McElhenny was dominate between the posts.
Craig Palladino was arguably the best player to ever wear a Cairn uniform. A 4x All-American, who was in a class of his own, led Cairn to 4 straight National Championships. After finishing his career at Cairn, he was drafted by the Penn-Jersey Spirit of the American Soccer League which at the time was the top professional soccer league in the country.
David Babb was a 3x All-American and was one of the most steadying players of the decade. His ability to distribute and keep play ticking helped set the tone for several national championship runs.
Donovan Howard was a 3x All-American and one of the finest goal scorers of the decade. His creativity and pace was matched by his passion and inspired play on the pitch.
Jeff Grant was a 2x All-American who was one of the premier play-makers of the decade. His play and leader were integral in both the 1984 and 1985 Championship runs.
Steve Eichner, a Cairn University Athletic Hall of Honor inductee ('23), was a 3x All-American and is near the top of the record book in Goals and Assists. The dominant run of National Championships began with Eichner on the pitch and it was in large part due to his excellence.
Steve Kikendall was a key member of four national championship teams. He was exceptional player and always a threat in the attacking half. Kikendall was an All-American and was one of the best players on the pitch during the 1987 National Tournament Run.
