LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Highlanders won their sixth straight game on Monday, moving to 1-0 during solar eclipses, as they eclipsed the Centenary Cyclones, 6-2.

Centenary (10-15 / 3-5 ATLANTIC EAST) got ahead in the second inning with a two-out double, scoring on an RBI single. Junior designated hitter Tyler Harris (Oxford, PA / Oxford) worked a walk to lead off the bottom half as freshman shortstop Nathan Schurga (Wilmington, DE / Conrad Schools of Science) moved him into scoring position with a single through the right side. Junior left fielder Will Wikner (Gaithersburg, MD / Shenandoah University) Batts 4-1put the ball in play to the left side, scoring Harris to tie things up at one.

Cairn (14-11 / 8-4 UNITED EAST SKYE DIVISION) added another in the fifth as the Highlanders got the bases loaded and brought junior Dylan Jackson (Levittown, PA / Chestnut Hill College) across to score on a sacrifice fly by fifth year second baseman Joe Greenwood (Wall, NJ / Calvary Academy). Classmate Sam Spadea (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) led off the sixth with a single down the line and was moved into scoring position by Schurga on a sacrifice bunt. Freshman centerfielder Zachary Johnson (Hawaii Kai, HI / TCS Post Grad) drove Spadea in with a single up the middle. Jackson came up with a two-run homer to right, putting Cairn at a safe distance, up 5-1. The Cyclones threatened in the seventh, as they scratched across a single run, making it a 5-2 game.

Benson CENTThe Highlanders added an insurance run in the eighth as Schurga was hit by a pitch and came around to score. Sophomore reliever Nick Benson (Philadelphia, PA / Father Judge) picked up his second save of the season, locking down the win with 3.0 innings in relief, surrendering a single hit.
