LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Highlanders Men's Lacrosse team opened their 2024 campaign at home, hosting Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs had their way, defeating the Highlanders 19-4.
 
NOTABLES:

• Senior attacker Jonathan Balsamo (Long Island, NY / Eastport South Manor) began his season in the same fashion he ended 2023 with a pair of goals.
• Senior midfielder Chaz Cotton (Newburgh, NY / Newburgh Free Academy) and sophomore attacker Cole Heffler (Eldersburg, MD / Central Maryland Christian) each added a goal, Heffler assisting on Cotton's goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Immaculata (1-1) got on a roll early, scoring 8 goals in the first quarter alone. They would add four more until Balsamo got Cairn (0-1) on the scoreboard at the end of the first half.
• The Mighty Macs responded with another goal, taking a 13-1 lead into halftime.
• Balsamo provided another goal on a man-up opportunity to start the third frame.
• Immaculata responded back with four goals to build on their lead.
• Heffler and Cotton would each score in the fourth quarter as Immaculata pulled away with the win, 19-4.

GAME NOTES:

• With his goal on Saturday, Balsamo has scored in 10-straight games, starting back on March 18, 2023 at Purchase College.

• The Highlanders host Delaware Valley University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. before concluding their week at Neumann University on March 2 at 4 p.m.
