MSOC: Seniors Show Out on Men's Soccer Senior Night

LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Men's Soccer finished the regular season on a high note, shutting out Penn State Berks, 5-0, on senior night.
 
Prior to the start of the match, Cairn Men's Soccer's eleven seniors were honored for their contributions and accomplishments throughout their playing careers. Those honors included: senior goalkeeper Chris Eelman (North Haledon, NJ / Hawthorne Christian), fifth year defender Joshua Smith (Attleboro, MA / Homeschool), senior midfielder Jack Fiacco (Sunderland, MD / Northern HS), forward Jesse Brittan (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy), midfielder Caleb Rudloff (Quakertown, PA / Geneva College), forward Youngan Kim (Busan, South Korea / Black Forest Academy), midfielder Chase Segool (Aston Twp., PA / Sun Valley), midfielder Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Twp.), midfielder Geon Jung (Seoul, South Korea / International School of Wuxi), forward Ryan Buehler (Bethlehem, PA / Lehigh Valley Christian), and goalkeeper Jack Blanda (Abington, PA / Abington).
 
Into the action, Beers scored the first goal for the Highlanders on his senior night, assisted by sophomore forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool), in the eighth minute. The seniors continued as Smith scored at the end of the 12th minute, assisted also by Miller. Miller then scored a goal of his own in the 19th minute, assisted by Kim, closing the half ahead 3-0.
 
Brittain then notched his 50th career goal, moving to sixth all time in program history, in the 55th minute before Smith closed out senior night with his second goal, assisted by Segool, in the 73rd minute.
 
The final tally included two goals and an assist for Smith, a goal apiece for Beers, Brittain, and Miller, with Miller being credited with two assists as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Xander Jakeway (Lancaster, CA / Quartz Hill) got the start and did not face a shot in 45 minutes of work before Eelman and Blanda took over, teaming up for a combined shutout as the defense held the Nittany Lions to two shots on the game and a single shot on goal.
 
With their tenth win of the season, the Highlanders secured the #3 seed in the 2024 United East Men's Soccer Championship, clinching them a first round by as they will face the winner of #6 Penn College and #11 Keystone on Saturday, November 2. Kickoff TBD.
