WILLIAMSPORT, PA — On Tuesday night, Cairn Men's Soccer traveled to Penn College for a neck and neck match, resulting in a 1-1 draw after ninety minutes.
Early in this match, the Wildcats of Penn College (9-4-3 / 4-1-2 UNITED EAST) scored on a penalty kick, starting the Highlanders with a 1-0 deficit (8'). In response to this, sophomore forward
Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) received a header from sophomore forward
Brock Burres (Wanaque, NJ / Hawthorne Christian), which he fired over the Wildcats' keeper, scoring his eighth goal of the year and brought forth the end of the half, 1-1.
The Cairn (9-2-5 / 6-0-1 UNITED EAST) defense and sophomore goalkeeper
Xander Jakeway (Lancaster, CA / Quartz Hill) held strong in the second half, leaving no ability for the Wildcats to push ahead. Penn College brought five shots on goal in the half, all of no avail. Junior defender
Jonathan Akers (Bel Air, MD / C. Milton Wright) and senior midfielder
Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) each had a shot on goal in an effort to break the draw but this one ended 1-1.
Miller had the lone goal for the Highlanders, assisted by Burres.
On Saturday night, October 26, Cairn will host Penn State Berks for their final regular season match as well as senior night, recognizing ten seniors starting at 7:30 p.m.
