MSOC: Four Goals Lead Highlanders over Chargers

LANCASTER, PA - On Wednesday night, Cairn Men's Soccer traveled alongside the women to face the Lancaster Bible College Chargers, picking up another conference win on the road, 4-1.

In only two minutes of play, senior forward Jesse Britain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) assisted sophomore forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) with a great pass, allowing Miller to start off the game with a goal to put Cairn (4-2-4 / 2-0 UNITED EAST) ahead. Four minutes later, freshman midfielder Emmanuel Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) raced down the field, launching another goal which brought Cairn to a 2-0 lead in only six and a half minutes.

Moments later senior forward Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Twp.), in his hometown, set fifth year defender Joshua Smith (Attleboro, MA / Homeschool) up for a goal for the Highlanders. With their adrenaline running, they continued to press on the Chargers' defense with shots on goal from freshman forward Evan Soriano (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury), Beers, Brittian, and Miller.

Heading into the second half, Cairn put out two back to back shots on goal from the foot of fifth year forward Geon Smallwood (Galloway, NJ / Pilgrim Academy) and Beers. Brittain followed up with yet another goal, assisted by graduate midfielder Matt Lungu (Lilongwe, Malawi / African Bible College - Malawi) bringing the Highlanders to a 4-0 lead. The only offense for Lancaster Bible (3-5-1 / 1-1 UNITED EAST) came by way of an own-goal to get them on the board 4-1.

Cairn barely held the edge in shots (16-15) but peppered the goal with 11 shots on goal to LBC's 5. Wednesday's win snapped Cairn's 4-game losing streak to Lancaster Bible since 2018.

The Highlanders host Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 PM, looking to pick up another conference victory.
