ROSEMONT, PA – Cairn Men's Soccer clinched their sixth-straight postseason appearance with their sixth-straight win, shutting out Rosemont 4-0 on Wednesday night on the road.
Cairn (8-2-4 / 5-0 UNITED EAST) got started in the scoring column in the 30th minute from the foot of senior midfielder
Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Twp.), assisted by sophomore forward
Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool). The Ravens tried to ignite a spark to match ahead of the halftime break, failing to do so and taking the single goal deficit to halftime.
After Rosemont's (5-6-3 / 2-2 UNITED EAST) first shot of the second half, senior midfielder
Jack Fiacco (Sunderland, MD / Northern) scored his second goal of the season in the 51
st minute to double the lead. Sophomore forward
Brock Burres (Wanaque, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) joined the fun with a goal six minutes later (57') to begin putting the Highlander lead out of reach. Miller sent a parting shot through the goalposts in the 83
rd minute, assisted by Beers with his conference-leading 10
th assist of the season, to close the match at a final score of 4-0.
Beers and Miller each scored and assisted on another goal while Fiacco and Burres each netted a goal. Sophomore goalkeeper
Xander Jakeway (Lancaster, CA / Quartz Hill) picked him his second clean sheet of the season, grabbing 11 saves in a complete game effort.
With their fifth conference win, the Highlanders will make their second United East postseason appearance.
Cairn will host Keystone College on Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
