WSOC: Highlanders Pick Up Conference Win over Cedar Crest

LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Women's Soccer held off the Cedar Crest Falcons on Saturday night, picking up a conference win with a final score of 2-1.

Sophomore defender Emily Brittin (Winslow, NJ / Pilgrim Academy) got the Highlanders started just five minutes into the match, assisted by classmate Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Atlantic Christian), off a corner kick. The Cairn (3-7-1 / 3-2 UNITED EAST) defense held firm in the first half, holding the Falcons to one empty shot in the frame while they took 14.

After the break, freshman forward Juliana Condurso (Brick, NJ / Calvary Academy) wasted little time in the second half after freshman forward Josey Smith (Levittown, PA / Pennsbury) found her team-leading fifth goal of the season which was the game-winner. Cedar Crest (2-5-2 / 1-2-1 UNITED EAST) found the net in the 84th minute to cut the lead to one goal, scoring on their only shot of the half. The Highlanders held on to take a 2-1 conference win.

Brittin and Condurso did the scoring for Cairn while Noble and Smith were credited with assists. Cedar Crest took only two shots, both on goal, while Cairn took 25.

The Highlanders will match up with Rosemont on the road Wednesday night, kicking off at 5 p.m.
