LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn University Women's Soccer team closed out the week taking on Delaware Valley University Thursday night as the Aggies pushed past the Highlanders by a score of 6-1.
Delaware Valley (2-2) got on the board early, taking the 1-0 lead in the 15th minuted followed by another goal in the 24th to push the deficit to 2-0. Cairn (0-2) would answer back immediately as senior midfielder
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) scored her first goal of the season, assisted by senior midfielder
Becca Marzinke (Quakertown, PA / Upper Bucks Christian). Lee found an open look once more as the half closed with the Highlanders trailing 2-1. The Aggie offense continued in the second half as DelVal would find the back of the net on four more shots on goal with the match closing by a score of 6-1.
Delaware Valley held the advantage in shots (26-9) with fourteen shots on goal to the Highlanders' three. Lee led the Cairn squad in shooting with a goal on four shots. Marzinke and senior midfielder
Em Kuansongtham (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) each added two shots of their own. Sophomore goalkeeper
Emilee Doran (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Community College) made her first career appearance recording three saves.
Cairn Women's Soccer continues their home stand next week, facing off against the Wildcats of Penn College on Tuesday at 7 p.m inside the Stillman Athletic Complex.
