Women's Soccer: Miller Scores As Highlanders Fall to Wildcats

LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn University Women's Soccer team took on the Wildcats of Penn College, Wednesday night, as the Wildcats took the match 4-1.

Penn College (2-0-3) did not hesitate to take the lead as the Wildcats found the goal in the 2nd minute. They followed up ten minutes later as the lead was extended to 2-0 (11th minute). Cairn (0-3) looked to score on shots by senior midfielder Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) and graduate student defender Rachel Yoder (Telford, PA / Souderton) but were both saved. Penn College would score again on the penalty kick in the 16th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Emilee Doran (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Community College) would enter the game on the penalty and save the last two Wildcat shots of the half, moving to halftime with the Highlanders down 3-0. Yoder, Lee, and senior midfielder Micaela Prate (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) would each look to score but come up empty. Penn College would score their only goal of the half in the 78th minute as the lead grew to 4-0. Senior defender Grace Miller (Chapel Hill, NC / Central Bucks West) would provide the lone goal for the Cairn team in the 82nd minute, assisted by Yoder, for her first goal of the season. The Highlanders would close the game 4-1.

Penn College led in shots with 21 to the Highlanders' 6 and shots on goal (10-4). Miller had the only Cairn goal on the evening on a single shot. Lee and Yoder would follow with two shots apiece. Doran collected five saves in 69 minutes of play, defending the Highlander goal a defender short.
