MAHWAH, NJ - The Cairn University Men's Soccer team traveled to Mahwah, NJ on Monday to start their week with a non-conference match with Ramapo College. The Roadrunners held off the Highlanders to win 5-0.
Ramapo (1-2-2) got off to a hot start, putting up the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute. Freshman forward
Alijah Miller (Monroe, NJ / Homeschool) managed to get two shots off along with junior midfielder
Jack Fiacco (Sunderland, MD / Northern HS) and junior forward
Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) with one shot apiece as the half closed 1-0 in favor of the Roadrunners. Ramapo came out of the break with momentum, scoring in the 47th minute, pushing the lead to 2-0. Junior midfielder
Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) and Brittain would try to spark the Cairn (2-3-1) offense but could not find the back of the net. The Roadrunners would extend their lead with goals in the 58th, 74th, and 86th minutes as the match closed with Ramapo ahead 5-0.
Ramapo held the advantage in shots (26-9) and shots on goal (13-4). Brittain led with three shots followed by Miller and Beers with two shots apiece, while junior midfielder
Chase Segool (Aston Township, PA / Sun Valley) managed a single shot on goal.
The Highlanders head to Radnor on Wednesday to face off against the Cavaliers of Cabrini University with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
