LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams hosted the United East Preview Meet on campus Saturday morning, hosting 12 United East schools as well as other college and high school runners in the annual Highlander Invitational.
For the women's team, sophomore
AyliGrace Munro (Bar Harbor, ME / Mount Desert Island HS) placed first overall in the College Women's 6K race with a time of 27:52.1, with an average pace of 7:29. She was followed shortly after by freshman
Clarisse Hayden (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) who placed third coming in at 28:27.8. Junior
Erin Wilson (Southampton, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) made her debut for the Highlanders, placing 19th (37:10.7) followed only two seconds later by senior
Jordan Harvey (Chichester, PA / The Christian Academy) at 20th (37:12.7). Sophomore
Alizabeth Hayden (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) was not far behind, crossing at 37:29.9 in 23rd place. Sophomores
Morgan Steele (Bowie, MD / Estele Christian Academy) and
Kate O'Brien (Lumberton, NJ / Trinity Preparatory) closed out the field in 30th (37:58.3) and 42nd (42:39.5), respectively. The team took home 2nd place overall in the meet.
The men's team placed 11th overall. Freshman
Danny Kushay (Cinnaminson, NJ / Calvary Christian Academy) was the top finisher for the Highlander men, coming in 21st at a time of 33:12.7. He was followed closely by Senior
Nicholas Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschool) in 35th place crossing at 34:05.1. Senior
Andrew Higgins (North Hampton, NH / Jesse Remington High School) finished at 41:55.2 in 65th place. Sophomores
Adain Holliday (New York, NY / Urban Asembly Maker Academy) and
Caleb Vargas (Montgomery Village, MD / Watkins Mill) rounded out the male runners in 67th and 82nd place.
The Cairn Cross Country teams race again this coming weekend, heading to Bryn Athyn for the Bryn Athyn Invitational on Saturday, September 23 at 9 a.m. for the women and 9:45 a.m for the men's race.
