LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team lost, 11-9, on the road against defending Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) champion Keystone College on Friday afternoon in the first game of their three-game series with the Giants.

Cairn (7-13, 1-3 CSAC) struck first via an RBI-single by sophomore
Dylan Jackson (Levittown, PA / Chestnut Hill College) in the top of the first, before Keystone (11-10, 4-0 CSAC) answered with a three-run homer in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead. The Giants added three runs over the next two inning, and broke the game open with a five-run fifth frame, leading 11-1 after five. The Highlanders got three runs back in the sixth inning, highlighted by sophomore
Tyler Warr's (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) second homer of the season to cut the deficit to seven (11-4). The Keystone lead remained seven before the ninth inning. Cairn made a furious comeback down to their last outs, capitalizing on three Keystone errors in the frame to score five runs and cut the deficit to two (11-9). The Highlanders had the bases loaded with two outs, but Keystone induced a fly out to end the game.

Cairn was led offensively by Jackson with three hits and three RBIs, both team-highs. Warr followed with a pair of hits and RBIs, while senior
Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian Academy) and freshman
Zach Bauers (Cooper City, FL / Cooper City) each recorded a pair of base knocks. Senior
Harrison Green (Jackson, MS / Park Place Christian Academy) kept the Highlanders in the contest in relief on the bump, scattering two hits and one run over four innings of work.

The Highlanders will be back on the diamond tomorrow when they return home to conclude their series with the Giants in a doubleheader inside the Stillman Complex starting at 12 p.m.
