Baseball: Ten-Run Seventh Inning Lifts Highlanders over Defenders

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team won, 17-7, at home in game one of their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) series with Clarks Summit University inside the Stillman Complex on Friday evening.

Clarks Summit (4-25, 0-13 CSAC) posted the first run of the contest before Cairn (12-17, 5-5 CSAC) responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Highlanders added two more runs in the second frame (5-1) off of back-to-back RBI-knocks by senior Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian Academy) and freshman Zach Bauers (Cooper City, FL / Cooper City). The Defenders plated one in the top of the third, before taking their first lead of the contest following a four-spot in the top of the fifth (6-5). Cairn quickly answered with runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth frames to re-take the lead (7-6), before doing the majority of their damage in the seventh, putting up 10 runs to take firm control of the contest (17-6).
