MADISON, N.J. – The Cairn University baseball team won both games of their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader against Saint Elizabeth University held on the campus of FDU-Florham on Sunday afternoon. The Highlanders topped SEU in game one, 8-4, before claiming a 7-4 victory over the Eagles in the nightcap.

"We have been waiting to hit our stride all season and it finally clicked against a good SEU team." Remarked Head Coach
Brett Marks.
"We are excited for the second half of the season and to keep momentum going into the playoffs. This group has so much talent and when they play together as one they are tough to beat."

In game one, Saint Elizabeth (11-16, 7-5 CSAC) plated the first run of the game in the first inning, before Cairn (11-15, 4-5 CSAC) put up a big inning in the second frame. Senior
Cam Culver (Croydon, PA / Truman) got things started with a two-RBI double, before back-to-back hit batters gave the Highlanders a 4-1 lead. Sophomore
Tyler Warr (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) capped off the six-run inning with an RBI-single up the middle. The Eagles cut the Cairn lead to 6-3 after a two-run homer in the fourth inning. However, senior
Sam Spadea (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) put the game out of reach for Saint Elizabeth with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh, giving Cairn an 8-3 lead.

Cairn was led offensively in game one by Warr and seniors
Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian Academy) and
Jake Arnoldy (West Grove, PA / Wilmington Christian), who each tallied multi-hit games. Spadea became the first player in program history to homer in four-straight games, and paced the Highlanders with three RBIs. Spadea also got the win on the bump, hurling six innings, scattering six hits, three runs and striking out four.

In game two, SEU struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Cairn answered accordingly with a two-spot of its own in the second frame off of Warr's third homer of the season to knot the contest up at two a-piece. After SEU took a 3-2 lead in the third, the Highlanders used another big inning in the fourth frame, this time a four-spot that included RBI-knocks by junior
Jake Meisel (Newark, DE / Rosemont College) and freshman
Zach Bauers (Cooper City, FL / Cooper City) to take a 6-3 lead. Those runs were all sophomore starting pitcher
Joe Battaglia (Brielle, NJ / Brentwood Academy) and junior reliever
Eli Schooley (Horseheads, NY / Horseheads) would need, as Cairn cruised to a comfortable 7-4 victory.

Sophomore
Dylan Jackson (Levittown, PA / Chestnut Hill College) led the offensive output in game two with a team-high three hits, followed by Warr with a pair of knocks including the homer. Battaglia earned his first win of the season, going 4.1 innings, scattering six hits, four runs (three earned) and striking out five Eagles. Schooley gave Cairn 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and striking out four.

The Highlanders will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, April 18 when they return home for a non-conference bout with NJAC member Ramapo College of New Jersey at 3:30 p.m.
